11 Pre-Diwali Home Cleaning Hack You Must Try!

Whether you’re a constant cleaner or a last-minute tidy-upper, knowing a few quick and easy tricks can make the process a whole lot easier.

Diwali is by far the most celebrated and beloved festival among people. When someone talks about Diwali, our brain automatically associates Diwali with brightness, happiness, and a tonne of goodies. However, with pre-Diwali celebrations, joy, celebration, and sweets, Diwali also offers endlessly stressful tasks such as cleaning.

Old tales claim that the goddess only bestows her blessings on clean, well-lit, and festive homes during the festival of lights. So, to get blessings from goddess Laxmi and to invite happiness into one’s house, everyone wants to keep their home neat and clean. Pre-Diwali cleaning needs so many tasks to be fulfilled, from organizing to decoration.

Here are some steps you can follow to clean your home before the arrival of Diwali.

Step #1: Start cleaning your bedroom area.

Starting with the living room can seem sensible, but doing so might be difficult. However, beginning with the bedroom requires customized cleaning that might create a positive atmosphere for scrubbing the other areas.

Dust off the walls first. Next, wash all textiles, including carpets, pillows, bedsheets, and curtains. Most materials can be laundered in a washing machine, cutting your cleaning time in half. Allow your mattresses, blankets, and cushions to dry in the sunlight for a day, if feasible. It will naturally clean and freshen them. Finally, use a rag or newspaper to wipe down the windows and the fan.

Step #2: Now move on to the bathroom

Even if choosing your Bathroom is everyone’s least favourite cleaning task, we urge you to clean the bedroom first. Start with the toilet and sink. Apply the appropriate cleaning brushes and cleaning solvents, allow them to sit for a bit, and then wash. Use disinfectant to clean the inside and outside of the cabinets and shelves.

The floor is now in play. If necessary, wash it with a liquid disinfectant and stain remover. Next, continue with the remaining components, such as the mirrors, tiles, and faucets. Keep a descaling solution on hand to get rid of challenging hard water stains. If you find any damage to your floor tiles, then it’s time to replace them.

Step #3: Start organizing things

Eliminating the excess clutter from your home is one of the key phases in the Diwali cleaning practice. Take out everything from your house that is superfluous and has been sitting unused for quite a long period. You can dispose of unnecessary materials gathered over time, sell devices that don’t work, and give items that don’t fit anymore. These things are useless in your home, making the space appear cramped and messy.

Step #4: Organizing the closet

One area that isn’t always tidy is our closet. So it’s time that you should care about that. Start by taking out old clothing or books from the shelves. Fold and rearrange all the jumbled clothing appropriately. In the closet, create different storage spaces, add sections where necessary, and go through the open spaces next to the doors. Put the divisions so that you can find things easily.

As more NGOs ask for donations for needy kids during the festive periods, think about donating your clothes. Your small effort can make someone else’ Diwali a joyful Diwali. Put the filthy garments in the hamper for washing.

If you think any items need to be washed, keep those clothes in the washing area where you’re going to clean them rather than putting them away in the closet. The neatly organized closet shows that you have succeeded in one step toward pre-Diwali cleaning.

Step #5: Clean the walls

As you cleaned the rooms, you also dusted the walls. It’s time to clean them now. The majority of wall paintings can be easily cleaned with a homemade or store-bought liquid cleaning solution, a soft cloth, or a sponge. Make sure that stubborn stains and debris are removed, leaving your walls tidy.

Step #6: Proper Cleaning of Beds and Curtains

Cleaning clothing, such as curtains, bed linen, pillow covers, couch throws, and so on, is the easiest chore to complete around the house. Take it out, place it in your washing machine, choose the temperature, and start washing. You must separate them; first, clean the curtains, then wash the sofa coverings or any other items you find more convenient.

Step #7: Cleaning and scrub the kitchen

Even though cleaning the kitchen is unpleasant, it is not that difficult. Assemble the following ingredients: vinegar, dish soap, baking soda, and hot water. Start by gathering all of the kitchen utensils in one location. Boxes and racks should be cleaned next, then bowls, utensils, and other items. Use a dry towel and a cleaning solution to clean kitchen appliances. To prevent any scratches on any crockery, use a dusting cloth.

Step #8: Do not ignore these areas

When it comes to maintaining our homes, we frequently prioritize the more noticeable parts. This omits the minute yet crucial elements of a room. When cleaning your home, be sure to pay attention to places behind and beneath major furniture and equipment, like the couch or the refrigerator, panel boards, lights, bulbs, taps or knobs, and dustbins.

Step #9: Never forget about cleaning your home appliances

While cleaning home appliances does need a lot of effort, it is simple if you are aware of how to execute it correctly. Start by using a clean, dry cloth, and remove all the dust from any appliance, including a tv, music player, refrigerator, washing machine, etc.

Next, scrub after using your preferred cleanser. Strong stains can be easily removed using baking soda if you detect any. Cover your home appliances with clothing or plastic covers to keep them protected from any dust. Not only during the festive season, but you should also keep cleaning your appliances regularly as it ensures proper safety from dust.

Step #10: Remember to clean the door

Remember that it’s the door from where people enter. A dirty entrance will have a bad impact on the visitors. Your home entrance also has to be cleaned. You can do this by simply using a cloth and an effective cleaning solution.

It would be a great idea if you thought about repainting your door so that it would look great when you decorate it for Diwali. Your doors might have thick, and sometimes it becomes challenging to remove stains as a result of years of neglect. Use a powerful cleaning solution comprised of baking soda and vinegar for that.

Step #11: Floor and wall maintenance is required

Utilize floor cleaners to properly clean the flooring. To clean the floors and walls, you can make use of vacuum cleaners, cleaners, flooring brushes, and fiber clothing. You can use the restroom cleaners that are sold in the market to clean the flooring of restrooms. In addition, you could bring a lawsuit against heating pop. Sometimes all you need to concentrate on is floor washing as part of housekeeping.

PRO TIP:

You clean every inch of your house to get it ready for parties. When a visitor enters your home, the main draws are the walls and floor. If you notice drumming and shabby, cracked tiles in your home, then it will not create a good impact on the visitor. It’s a signal that you need to replace your old tiles.
